Why Onshow will never message a property owner
Outbound prospecting is the obvious feature request and the answer is permanently no. What the regulation says, and why we would rather lose the deal than build it.
The most requested feature we have not built, and will not build, is outbound prospecting: find owners whose listings have expired, or whose properties are off-market, and contact them.
The answer is no, permanently, and it is worth explaining why rather than leaving it as a gap on a roadmap.
It is a regulatory line, not a preference
Contacting a property owner who has not asked to hear from you is regulated in this market, and the consequences of getting it wrong land on the agent and the brokerage rather than on the software vendor.
A product that made it one click would be handing its customers a risk it does not carry itself. That is not a trade we are willing to make on somebody else’s licence.
What we build instead
Everything in Onshow is inbound. A buyer finds a page, opens it, and chooses to send an enquiry — with consent recorded verbatim, in the exact words that were on the screen when they agreed.
The enquiry then hands you a phone number. Onshow does not send the reply, because the reply should come from you, in whatever channel the client already used.
The cost of saying no
We have lost deals over this and expect to lose more. It is still the right position: a compliance product that quietly ships a compliance problem is not a compliance product.
